Yedigoller National Park
Located 42 km away from Bolu, Yedigöller National Park is almost a paradise with its nature and clean air, 7 different lakes. It is home to many different tree species and over 100 bird species. The national park offers a different feast each season for photography lovers and camping enthusiasts. It is also one of the favorite places of daily visits with its picnic and hiking areas. With a small entrance fee, you can set up a tent in the park, spend a few days in touch with nature and get rid of all the stress of the city.
Located in the southwest Bolu, Abant is three hours away from Istanbul. Lake Abant, on the Abant Mountains, is fed by groundwater and its water is sweet. It is located 1,325 meters above sea level. Thanks to its clear water, the bottom can be seen even at the deepest points. The lake has a rich flora and it is full of aquatic plants and water lilies around it. Many wild animals, waterfowl and predatory species live in the surrounding forest.
Lake Abant provides many activity areas for picnic, nature walks, cycling, relaxing and camping. You can also find bungalow houses and restaurants.
Kartalkaya Skiing Resort
Kartalkaya Skiing Resort is located 38 km. from Bolu and lies at on the Köroğlu Mountains. It has thirteen different tracks, and the snow thickness is up to 3 meters in winter. The tourist season continues from December to the end of March in Kartalkaya, a pleasant holiday destination for winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers who want to enjoy snowy winter by the fireplace.
Gölcük Nature Park
Another place that you should definitely visit in Bolu is Gölcük Nature Park, which is 13 km from the city center. The guesthouse of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is the only building in this place where unique photographs are taken. On the other side of the lake, there is the Gölcük Üçgül Hiking Trail in the forest. You can tour around the lake by bicycle, golf cart, and electric vehicle or have a walk to enjoy the view.
Sülüklügöl is an untouched paradise where wild animals such as roe deer, brown bear, wolf, red spotted trout, and different fish species live. Tree trunks remaining can still be seen at the bottom of the lake, which was formed by the collapse after the earthquake. Hunting is prohibited in Sülüklügöl National Park to preserve wildlife. The lake area is not suitable for camping as it is uninhabited.
Located 32 km from Bolu, the lake was created artificially for irrigation of agricultural lands. It is the largest lake in the Western Black Sea with an area of 833 hectares. Although it is artificial, Seben Lake contains all shades of blue and green around it and has many places to visit with its trees, historical rock houses, caves and plateaus. It is also suitable for angling, boat, and canoe tours.
